Almond Pear Milkshake

Milkshakes and smoothies have something in common, they need to be simple. If a milkshake has more than six ingredients, something isn’t right. Also, ideally a milkshake or smoothie can be made using fairly everyday ingredients.  I am always on the look out for a milkshake or smoothie that fits these criteria.

The Almond Pear Milkshake is something my wife and I came up with. When we are trying to come up with new ideas we consult one of our favorite cooking resources: The Flavor Bible. It’s not a cookbook, but it is a comprehensive guide on what foods and flavors work well together. I wanted to make a milkshake with pears in it. Pears work extremely well with cinnamon and almonds. That’s how this milkshake was born. The Almond Pear Milkshake is simple to make, uses everyday ingredients, and has a stunning/complex flavor. Give it a try, let me know what you think!

    Easy To Chew

Almond Pear Milkshake has a single, smooth texture, and requires no chewing.

Note: Not all blenders can break almonds down to a smooth texture. If you have a hard time with gritty textures, replace the almonds with 2 tablespoons of almond butter.

One serving of almonds is a 1/4 cup, which contains:

    • 160 calories
    • 50% of your recommended daily amount of Vitamin E (an antioxidant, it also supports the immune system and is involved with nerve development)
    • 20% of your recommended daily amount of Magnesium (helps metabolize potassium, calcium, and vitamin D)
    • 25% of your recommended daily amount of Riboflavin (also called Vitamin B2, it supports skin health and vision)

If you have eating difficulties, raw almonds can be tough to process. They are an extremely healthy snack which are great for everyone, regardless of your chewing situation. A blender is the key to unlock the wonders that almonds contain. I use a vitamix blender. It is a titan among blenders. It leaves this milkshake so smooth that if it weren’t for the wonderful almond taste, you would never know almonds were there.

This makes the smoothest purees on planet earth!
