2poundsapples chopped in ½ inch pieces(any kind of apple will work)
1½cupwater
1cupsugar
2tablespoonslemon juice
1cinnamon stick
cooked cream of wheat
Instructions
In a sauce pan on high heat, combine water and chopped apples and bring water to a boil. Cook for about 15 minutes, apples will start to become soft
Add sugar and reduce heat to medium. While stirring frequently, cook for another 25 minutes, mixture will start becoming more jam like.
Stir in the lemon juice and the cinnamon stick. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 5 more minutes. Turn of the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. The jam should be thicker at this point, if you would like it thicker then no worries, just cook it longer. Take out the cinnamon stick and store in the fridge.
When you are ready for breakfast, cook your desired amount of cream of wheat (as directed on packaging) and stir however much apple jam you want.
Notes
You likely won't eat all the apple jam right away. Store it tightly in a mason jar and keep in the fridge. It will last you many a good breakfasts.
